Erin: How do you properly layer serums? For instance, we know you say lightest to thickest, but let's say I have a Vitamin C, stem cell, and MDO Serum - which order would you suggest? Sincerely, Serum Junkie!

Simon: I recommend simplified routines with less, but more effective products. Our MDO Serum is packed with everything the skin needs to hydrate and replenish.

Erin: Does it actually benefit you to have a different AM and PM skincare ritual? For instance, I use a thicker night cream.

Simon: It is definitely beneficial to have different AM & PM routines. During the day, the skin needs protection from free radicals, UV etc. At night the skin regenerates, so this is when you can use richer repairing, regenerating and replenishing products.

Erin: Can diet really affect acne? What is the product or ingredient you recommend for acne-prone skin?

Simon: Diet really affects everything in your life – For acne prone skin I can really recommend reducing milk products in your diet and watching very closely how your skin reacts to different foods. Regular exfoliation is key for acne prone skin – my MDO Exfoliant is a highly-effective 10% AHA fruit acid peel, that helps unclog pores, even skin-tone and minimize the dark spots.

Erin: Besides the obvious cleanser, toner, and moisturizer - If you can only have one product that helps prevent fine lines and wrinkles - What is your must-have product?

Simon: Hydration is key against lines and wrinkles! A great serum (like my MDO Serum you can use in the am and pm) and hydrating moisturizer should be staples in your routine if you want to prolong youthfulness.

Erin: Are there products with certain ingredients that don't work well together? I have heard that hyaluronic acid can cancel our Vitamin C but I also read this isn't true.

Simon: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant neutralizes free radicals, repairs damaged cells, aids in the skin’s regeneration process, brightens pigmented areas, stimulates collagen production and protects the skin against harmful pollutants. Vitamin C is best applied on its own. Some other ingredients can cause the Vitamin C to oxidate and that would be a waste of this amazing ingredient...

Ingredients you should not mix with Vitamin C are:

  • Vitamin C + Benzoyl peroxide (used for acne treatment)
  • Vitamin C + Retinol
  • Vitamin C + AHAs/BHAs
  • Vitamin C + Niacinamide
